What is IP CCTV?

What is IP CCTV?  IP camera is a type of digital video camera commonly employed for surveillance, and which, unlike analog closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, can send and receive data via a computer network and the Internet.

IP CCTV has been available for around ten years, however until fairly recently the price of IP products was extremely high, so much so it was not a feasible option in most cases. With the improvements in technology and introduction of High Definition IP products, along with the decrease in cost, they are now a very good option.

As the name suggests – IP CCTV products use your network infrastructure to transmit images from a camera to the desired location (this could be a recording unit or a PC etc). IP products are available is many resolutions, we at JMC offer IP products in 720P / 1.3MP / 2.0MP / 1080P and even a few items at 3.0MP / 5.0MP.
